If your a spin player, here’s the Best New Tennis Racket 2013 – For Top Spin
The Wilson Steam 99S and Wilson Steam 105S.
Both of these Tennis Rackets incorporate Wilsons New Proprietary Technology called “Spin Effect”.
Wilson claims that the two rackets, will enable players to add over 200 RPMs on their shots without changing their swing pattern. Essentially lowering the net by 2 inches and extending the court by a foot, enabling players using topspin to keep the ball in play longer.
Wilson has discovered that fewer cross strings were a key driver of maximizing string movement and allowing faster snap-back speed to generate more spin.
Applying this discovery has lead to a complete racket redesign that supports this new string pattern while enhancing overall playability.
It is the first racket that provides up to 3.3 times more string movement and 69 percent faster snap-back, specifically engineered for this style of play.
The only issue a player will have to deal with, is the type of strings to put into your Wilson Steam 99s or Steam 105s. With the increased string movement there will be greater wear on the cross strings essentially decreasing their life span.
Players may have to move towards a thicker gauge string which may negate some of the playability and spin effects, if they want longer durability from their strings.
Currently the Wilson Steam 99s and Wilson Steam 105s both sell for around $199.00.
